The grand finale of Carmarthenshire Heritage Regeneration Trust's 'Learning from the Landscape' project took place at the National Botanic Gardens on Friday 23rd September. Attended by a number of VIPs, with High Sheriff Tom Lloyd awarding prizes, the event celebrated the photographic work of schoolchildren who were given tuition and encouraged to present their views of the landscape.

Images from the event and of the latest activity at Llanelly House – including the installation of a specially-engineered support for the building during restoration work – can be see on our flickr.

Hello and welcome…

September's 'Open Doors' presentations, operated in partnership with Civic Trust Wales, have proved so successful that they are to be continued until the House opens in 2013. Last month's talks included a Q&A session with Richard Scott Jones, who carries out the archaeological work at Llanelly House, and another with the main building contractor, John Weaver.

Wedding Centenary

21st September saw the 100th anniversary of the wedding between Catherine Meriel Stepney and Sir Edward Stafford Howard, the last big family event to take place from Llanelly House. Held at St Elli church, the bride and her mother stayed at Llanelly House the night before the wedding.

Meet the Team – Community Engagement

The Community Engagement team at Llanelly House, comprises a pair of talented individuals with many years' experience. Lisa Bancroft & Estelle Evans are responsible for keeping Llanelli's people, community groups and organisations fully engaged.

Taking the Load Off

The front facade of Llanelly House is being held up, during reconstruction, by a complex prop arrangement that supports the wall at several points.
