National Cyber Security Awareness Month

October in National CyberSecurity Awareness Month (NCSAM) and throughout the month, ITS Security will be providing tips and tricks for staying safe online. This week's advicce is STOP, THINK, and CONNECT. Before you go online, STOP and make sure that your devices and applications are up to date. THINK about how you protect your personal information by using strong passwords and authentification tools. When you do CONNECT take care in what you clicck on and what information you share. Service on Saturday is a program hosted by The University of Memphis' Civic Engagement Board and provides service opportunities to student, faculty, and staff. Hosted three times a semester, Service on Saturday provides breakfast, lunch and approximately 3 to 4 volunteer oppurtunites for volunteers!

The Washington Center Provides DC-based internship oppurtunities to ccollege students - come to the nation''s capitol to study and learn on the  job, earning academic credit while gaining real-world experience. A TWC campus representative is visiting The University of Memphis on Mon. 10/2 to drop by classes and host infomation session to share this oppurtunity with students. Our info session is Moday 10/2 at 4:30 p.m. in the Honors Hall. 

Voter Registration Drive

Come register to vote! SGA is hosting a voter registration drive on campus October 2-4th from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you are not registered to vote for the local, state, or national, elections then this is the perfect oppurtunity for you. Also, when you sign up to vote you will recieve an, "I registered to vote" sticker which will entitle you to one dollar off your Starbucks order, as well as a coupon for a free fountain drink from any of the resturants on campus. Each of these days there will be tables setup around campus to give you the chance to come and sign up! The locations of thetables are as follows:

10/2 - UC Atrium/Fogelman/Nursing School

10/3 - UC Lawn/Central Crosswalk

10/4 - Wilder Tower/Library

Join us for our new  Tiger Talent Ready Professional Development Series this fall! Students who complete all four workshops in the TIger Talent Professional Development Series, upload an approved resume and head shot to TigerLink, and send a professional thank-you note will be awarded the distinction as Tiger Talent Ready, Level ! with a certification from Career Services. Employers value the Tiger Talent Ready designation because they know participants have invested in the skills that contribute to their success, ultimatley setting them apart in today's demanding job market.

Works in Progress Symposium October 30th! Showcase your Research Today!

Works In Progress Symposium (WIPS), is just around the corner! WIPS is an annual event that features 15-minute oral presentations by students who are currently conducting research on campus. Research does not have to be complete, it can be a "work in progress" or even a research proposal. The deadline for submissions is October 13th.

Are you a UofM undergraduate and graduate student looking for the oppurtunity to present or add a line to their CV? The UofM Libraries and Helen Hardin Honors College present NEDxStudents, a two-day event which allows students to share their recent research in engaging and entertaining 15-minute presentations. A panel of judges made up of UofM faculty will choose one presentation each day as a winner. Each winner will recieve a $250 cash prize provided by the Helen Hardin Honors program. Image description Student Event Allocation Packets Out Now!

Proposal packets for the Spring 2018 Student event Allocation process and Student Organizational Governing Council are now avaliable via Tiger Zone. Student Event Allocation (SEA) is a program that allows Registered Student Organizations to submit proposals for funding, a semester in advance, for events and programs such as speakers, lectures, dance performances, etc. SEA, previously managed by the SEA Committee, is now a process that will be overseen by the newly formed Student Organization Governing Council.
