Women in Leadership is a new offering for UofM women interested in learning more about leadership development topics specifically geared to their personal experiences. "Reclaiming my Time & Managing the Man-Splain" will be presented by a local executive who will share tips and tricks for women to assert themselves in a male dominated workplace, or leadership enviornment. Fall Alternative Break applications are now open!

Applications for the first ever Alternative Fall Break Trip are now Open! Alternative breaks are direct service oriented trips that strive to give students new perspectives and deeper understandings of specific social injustice issues, and worthwhile service oppurtunities focused on those issues. This year we will be having our first Alternative Fall Break trip. For this experience we will stay in Memphis, and the topic of the trip is "Marginalized in Memphis." The trip will focus on service opportunities dealing with human sex trafficking, immigration, and refugees. The total cost for this trip will be $25 per student. This will include food, lodging (at the 901BunkHouse), transportation, and an alternative break t-shirt. If you have any additional questions about this trip, please reach out to the Alternative Breaks Coordinator Sara James at sjames5@memphis.edu

The Kemmons Wilson School of Hospitality and Resort Management's Student Chapter of Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International (HSMAI) was recognized as the Collegiate Chapter of the Year for 2017 - 2017 at the HSMAI Mike Leven Leadership Conference in Leesburg, VA. Marissa Secrist, the president of the HSMAI UofM RSO, and Inna Soifer, a faculty advisor, accepted the prestigious national award at the Gala dinner on September 6, 2017. The HSMAI UofM accepts membership applications from all majors who are interested in professional development, networking opportunities, education and certifications through the HSMAI programs. MomentUM, the UofM's crowdfunding platform, is now accepting applications for the Fall fundraising cycle. You can create crowdfunding projects to raise money and awareness for innovative projects, service trips, events, research, and other UofM specific ventures. Last spring, nine project teams raised $21,262 cumulatively in just 30 days! MomentUM project users must be part of the UofM community. Get your fundraising plan together, gather your project team info, then go to https://momentUM.memphis.edu and click on Apply. Application deadline is September 18, 2017.

Volunteer Compass Training Session

The University of Memphis has a brand new platform for students to find community service oppurtunities and track their hours in real tim! CEO and Founder of Volunteer Odyssey, Dr. Sarah Petschonek, will be holding informational and trtaining sessions throughout the semester so you can better navigate how to create groups and events, how to track your personal service hours in real time, and how to find the service oppurtunity you love! These sessions will be avaliable to any student, faculty, or staff. There are links below to RSVP to each session, so please pick one that fits your schedule.
