Join us for the inaugural Leader to Leader event, with guest speaker Dr. Darrell Ray, Vice President of Student Affairs. Leader to Leader brings in prominent leaders from the greater Memphis and campus community to discuss a cometency area that helps students develop skills employers want to see post-graduation. This event will be held in the University Center Fountain View Room and will be focused on the topic of Teamwork & Collaboration. Breakfast will be served beginning at 9:00 a.m., with Dr. Ray beginning his presentation at 9:30 a.m. and concluding at 10:30 a.m.

National Voter Registration Day!

National Voter Registration Day is on this upcoming Tuesday, September 26, 2017. SGA  would like to encourage all students who have not yet voted to take an active role on campus this day and go online and vote at GoVoteTN.com. If you have not yet registered to vote for the national, state, or local elections this would be a great chance for you to do so! 

October 2 - 4th SGA will be hosting a voter registration drive on campus from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.in various places like the UC atrium and UC lawn. Here are a few things to keep in mind if you choose to vote on September 26th. Use the #GoVoteTN when making social media posts after registering, and also take the opportunity to tag Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett in your posts as well.

Join us for our new  Tiger Talent Ready Professional Development Series this fall! Students who complete all four workshops in the TIger Talent Professional Development Series, upload an approved resume and head shot to TigerLink, and send a professional thank-you note will be awarded the distinction as Tiger Talent Ready, Level ! with a certification from Career Services. Employers value the Tiger Talent Ready designation because they know participants have invested in the skills that contribute to their success, ultimatley setting them apart in today's demanding job market.

Women in Leadership is a new offering for UofM women interested in learning more about leadership development topics specifically geared to their personal experiences. "Reclaiming my Time & Managing the Man-Splain" will be presented by a local executive who will share tips and tricks for women to assert themselves in a male dominated workplace, or leadership enviornment. Cale Lane, Shelby County Sheriff candidate, will speak on national security and of combating the threat of terrorism, bringing to the for his experiences in law enforcement, counter-terrorism and homeland security.

Works in Progress Symposium October 30th! Showcase your Research Today!

Works In Progress Symposium (WIPS), is just around the corner! WIPS is an annual event that features 15-minute oral presentations by students who are currently conducting research on campus. Research does not have to be complete, it can be a "work in progress" or even a research proposal. The deadline for submissions is October 13th.

Are you a UofM undergraduate and graduate student looking for the oppurtunity to present or add a line to their CV? The UofM Libraries and Helen Hardin Honors College present NEDxStudents, a two-day event which allows students to share their recent research in engaging and entertaining 15-minute presentations. A panel of judges made up of UofM faculty will choose one presentation each day as a winner. Each winner will recieve a $250 cash prize provided by the Helen Hardin Honors program. Students can start racking up points by downloading the app and having it run while they are in class. The longer a student has the app running and their phone locked, the more points they can earn towards redeeming free food from local businesses such as Insomnia Cookies, Moe's, a free Subway sandwhich, 25% Papa Johns online codes, and many more online discounts. If the whole class does it, they'll earn points faster! 2X Tuesdays are awesome because students earn double the points.

International Youth Fellowship

The Grand Award-Winning Gracias Choir is coming to Memphis on Oct. 15, 2017. They won the grand prize in Germany, Switzerland, and Italy. They do a 25 City-Tour across U.S. in one month. They work to help spread hope and joy. Not only in the U.S. but to over 80 countries around the world.

Volunteers needed to do envelope making at the librar, sending dear neighbor letters, and ushering at the event.

Congratulations Alpha Lambda Delta National Honors Society

Congratulations for recieving the Delta Gold Award for an 82% increase in chapter membership from 15-16 to 16-17! The Alpha Lambda Delta Honors society for First-Year Students has been awarded to the University of Memphis chapter! The growth of this honor demonstrates that more academically talentaed students are drawn to our campus  and that the successful transition of these students from high school to college has been supported! Recognition to the chapters advisor Dan Bureau for the outstanding help to the chapter.
